Exhibition Plan Summary

東海道46番目の城下町、宿場町として残っている亀山宿。そこに位置するこの加藤家屋敷は、1778年から受け継がれてきた貴重な歴史的遺産です。特に、私が展示する板間の空間は、建築から200年以上を経ってもなおその原型を保ち続けており、武家屋敷の遺構として極めて重要な場所です。

この歴史的な場を舞台にして、過去から現在への歴史の継承を糸によって繊細かつ大胆に空間表現します。

糸は血脈であり、命が生まれ受け継がれてきたものです。

旅人である来場者には、歴史と現代が織りなす時を超えた物語の世界を体感していただきたいと考えています。

Kameyama-juku is the 46th castle town on the Tokaido route and remains as a post town. The Kato residence located there is a valuable historical heritage that has been passed down since 1778. In particular, the Itama space that I will be exhibiting has retained its original form even more than 200 years after its construction, making it an extremely important site as a remnant of a samurai residence. Set in this historical place, I use thread to delicately and boldly express the inheritance of history from the past to the present. The thread is the bloodline, and life is born and passed down. I hope that our visitors, who are travelers, will experience a world of timeless stories that interweave history and the present.

Biography

せんい作家　宮嵜祥子（みやざき　さちこ）

2006年の出産を機に、針金に糸を巻きつけて編む手法で制作が始まります。糸と針金の柔軟性を利用した、この手法は私の作品に生命の創造性と繊細さを反映させることに適した表現方法となりました。作品は巨大化し、空間を自由に変容させ、見る人を包みこみます。

Textile writer Sachiko Miyazaki When she gave birth in 2006, she began making her work using a method of weaving by wrapping thread around wire. This technique, which utilizes the flexibility of thread and wire, has become a suitable medium for reflecting the creativity and delicacy of life in my works. The works grow in size, freely transforming the space, and enveloping the viewer. Artist Statement

糸は血であり、絡み合う糸の編み地は、私の紡ぎ出す歴史でもあります。それを『成長の軌跡シリーズ』としてテーマ性を持たせ、その場所にふさわしい形に作品を増殖させながら構成していきます。

自分の紡ぎ出す歴史と建物が存在する空間の歴史をどの様に融合させるのかを試みています。

The thread is my blood, and the woven fabric of entangled threads represents the history I am spinning. I give this theme the title 'The Path of Growth Series,' shaping and expanding the works in a way that fits the space where they are displayed. I am exploring how to fuse the history I am weaving with the history of the space in which the building exists.
