人類は1万年以上も前から繊維を集めて糸を紡いでいた。そんな「糸」や「布」は私たちにとってとても身近な存在だ。人々は衣服や生活の実用品を手先の技で製作してきた。私は刺繍で作品を作ることが多いのだが、先人たちが築いてきた技術や表現を『手芸』の域を超えたものに昇華させるのが狙い。

Humans have been collecting fibers and spinning them into yarn for more than 10,000 years. Such "thread" and "cloth" are very familiar to us. People have used their hands to create clothing and everyday items. I often create works using embroidery, and my aim is to elevate the techniques and expressions developed by my predecessors to something that goes beyond the realm of "handicraft.''
