My work has always been autobiographical in nature, connecting my roots growing up as the child of a military family in Japan.
In my current antiwar series I am combining Japan’s Mount Fuji with Picasso’s Guernica. Make of that what you will
Artist Statement
KKKOPS: 組織的暴力の脅威が警察機動隊に浸透しており、その特徴は、一方ではその邪悪な性質を強化し、他方ではそれを様々な象徴的、自然主義的、表現主義的なものに変えるものです。現在フジヤマとピカソのゲルニカをブレンド中です
KKKOPS: threats of institutional violence pervade the police riot squad, with characteristics that on the one hand enhance its sinister quality and on the other turn it into something that is variously iconic, naturalistic, expressionistic. I am currently blending Fujiyama with Picasso’s Guernica
